Orton Lungu
I am a Medical Doctor from Zambia, currently pursuing a Master's degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Zambia. I completed my undergraduate medical training in Algiers, Algeria, and have spent more than 9 years working within Zambia's Ministry of Health, progressing from junior doctor to specialist. My clinical work centers on obstetric and gynaecological care — from Caesarean sections and hysterectomies to ward rounds and clinic consultations. I am equally passionate about healthcare education, and regularly teach on obstetric and gynaecological conditions. I hold a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Texila American University, Zambia, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching Methodology and Educational Leadership from the Copperbelt University, as well as training in Good Clinical Practice in Research Ethics from the Zambia National Health Research Authority. I write and work at the intersection of women's health, sexual and reproductive health, research, and public health, driven by a belief in equity in quality healthcare and evidence-based care for everyone. Lifelong learning, fairness, hard work, family, and honesty are the values that guide both my medical practice and my writing here.
